Hui-tanguru (February)

Kia ora and welcome to our Hui-tanguru update. This is a big month – we preview Pride festivals running or being organised in three cities. We profile Kiki , writer of Puzzy, the first Pacific lesbian play to show in the Auckland Pride Festival, and describe a Fijian women’s art project about young women’s tattoos. Two lesbians have started a new campaign to support refugees and there’s a new Wellington safe house for women trying to leave sex work. Enjoy reviews of the web drama Auckward Love; the latest book of Paekakariki lesbian writing; and Darlinghissima, about a long-term, long-distance relationship. If you missed the Transforming Feminisms conference in Dunedin late last year, you can read about it here. And you can hear our very own WordPress whiz and artist Jade read her award-winning short story during Pride.

On our media page you can also read about the Charlotte Museum’s Pride exhibition, and a forthcoming anthology of women’s comics from Aotearoa. See our Services page for classified ads and businesses, currently free. Email us your Dyke Diary, Social and Support group updates and we’ll put them online as quickly as possible. We welcome comments (at the bottom of every page) and contributions. Thanks!

If you prefer to read LNA on paper click on print at the top of our main pages. If you’re reading this on your phone, use landscape view to see the stories better.
