Paenga-whāwhā (April)

Kia ora and welcome to our Paenga-whāwhā update, only a little bit later than usual. (And avoiding April Fools Day!)

Lots of arty activities this time, including writers, poets, dance, art, and comics. On our media page you can read about ground-breaking Fijian art on a women’s tattooing tradition; Jeanette Winterson and Susie Orbach coming to Auckland; a review of the local Three Words women’s comix anthology; and the documentary Inside the Chinese closet. And roving reporter Alison interviews Canadian writer Mariko Tamaki and online US writer Mallory Ortberg on our People page.

On our news page read about Christchurch’s Lady Poets (and a lusty poem); classical and queer Indian dance in Auckland; the Charlotte Museum’s Auckland discussion dinners; a new social group in Whanganui; the Shift national youth hui in Wellington and a trans booklet for schools; funding problems at the Christchurch Women’s Centre; a women’s unconference; and a report on the ILGA Human Rights conference, one of the Wellington Proud events. And check out our pix of Wellington Pride on the Photos page.

See our Services page for classified ads and businesses, currently free. Email us your Dyke Diary, Social and Support group updates and we’ll put them online as quickly as possible. We welcome comments (at the bottom of every page) and contributions. Thanks!
