Hakihea / December

courtney-brumpKia ora and welcome to our Hakihea update.

What’s new? We’ve got stories from north and south this month: particularly Dunedin and Auckland. Read good news (a new discussion group) and disappointing news (harassment continues) from Dunedin; read about what’s planned for the Charlotte museum, and what lesbians will be participating in, in next year’s Auckland Pride events.

Best practice guidelines on how to support LGBTI survivors of violence have been released. And we have some updates on lesbian balls and parties for queer women – again, some good news and some less good news.

There’s an interesting, and hopeful, development in Australia: a state government providing significant funding for the development of the country’s first Pride Centre.

Two books are included in this month’s Media page, and we have an update on Pot Luck, the Wellington-based lesbian web series is still doing well, here and overseas.

Do check out Dyke Diary – we update this whenever new events come in. We include women’s and other events of interest to lesbians – send us your suggestions for other local, regional, or national women’s/lesbian events we should be listing.

See our Services page for classified ads, national Rainbow training and accreditation services, and businesses, currently free. Email us your Dyke Diary, Social and Support group updates and we’ll put them online as quickly as possible. We welcome comments (at the bottom of every page) and contributions. Thanks!

And thank you to Helen Courtney for a new cartoon.
