Hōngongoi / July 2017

priestlyKia ora and welcome to our Hōngongoi update, this month with a topical cartoon from Helen Courtney.

This month we also focus on the arts, with items about four concurrent lesbian and queer women’s exhibitions in Palmerston North; women’s films in the NZ International Film Festival, the expansion of Naked Girls Reading beyond Wellington and Christchurch; public queer events by an arts faculty; and a Charlotte Museum update.

And we haven’t forgotten politics – Alison checks out what political party policies offer lesbians. For a more rural story, check out the story on sheep scanner and horse trainer Sophie Wilkinson who migrates seasonally between Northland, Southland and Taupo.

Check out our expanding Dyke Diary, with events of interest to lesbians and queer women – send us your suggestions for other local, regional, or national women’s/lesbian events we should be listing.

See our Services page for classified ads, national Rainbow training and accreditation services, and businesses, currently free. Email us your Dyke Diary, Social and Support group updates and we’ll put them online as quickly as possible. We welcome comments (at the bottom of every page) and contributions. Thanks!
