Whiringa-ā-rangi / November 2017

Kia ora and welcome to our Whiringa-ā-rangi update.

What’s new, and what’s news?

We are taking a break from direct party political and election commentary this month.

The PPTA is advocating for improved inclusive support for Rainbow students. Following positive support from the first hui, there are more events planned for takatāpui in Ōtautahi.

We report on Paekakariki Pride (hoping for a Guinness World Record!), and on forthcoming Auckland events: Lesbian Visibility Festival in November, and Pride plans for February 2018. Also next year, a tribute in the Auckland Arts Festival to music great Mahinārangi Tocker.

Our People page profiles Tai Waru – from the army to fashion, and our Media page features new work by two writers: Renée has published a memoir, and Alice Casey has published two novels.

Check out Dyke Diary for wherever you are, or would like to be. It lists events of interest to lesbians and queer women – send us your suggestions for other local, regional, or national women’s/lesbian events we should be listing.

See our Services page for classified ads, national Rainbow training and accreditation services, and businesses, currently free. Email us your Dyke Diary, Social and Support group updates and we’ll put them online as quickly as possible. We welcome comments (at the bottom of every page) and contributions. Thanks!
