Hakihea / December 2017

Kia ora and welcome to our Hakihea update, full of lesbian and queer female creativity.

The second season of award-winning Wellington lesbian webseries Potluck returns, following the adventures of Debs, Mel and Beth. We preview Auckland Pride’s big 80s lesbian music concert.

Next year is the 125th anniversary of women winning the vote, and Rainbow Youth’s If it’s not gay social marketing campaign went viral. Lesbian and queer female artists supported Sexual Abuse HELP Wellington. Poet Heather McPherson will be commemorated in film, images and poetry, and we review novelist and playwright Renee’s memoir

Our People page profiles Tai Waru – from the army to fashion, and watch out for two lesbian activists for LGBT rights in Estonia shortly.

Check out Dyke Diary for events of interest to lesbians and queer women. We update it as we receive events – please send us your suggestions of events we should be listing.

See our Services page for classified ads, national Rainbow training and accreditation services, and businesses, currently free. Email us your Dyke Diary, Social and Support group updates and we’ll put them online as quickly as possible. We welcome comments (at the bottom of every page) and contributions. Thanks!
